I puzzle with this, too. Maybe what is happening is you just can't easily sound as dumb repeating liberal banalities, because at some point along the line, a lot of thought went into creating "liberal".
For example, the "God will take care of us" could be, from a vacant liberal, "The search for knowledge will bring answers to all our problems," or "The free market will eliminate poverty," or "There should be no limit to free speech," or some other such absolute. But in the conservative case it sounds not-at-all-thought-about, while in the liberal case, it passes for thought, because other people have thought about it. Even if the person saying it doesn't know what they are saying.
Maybe?
Personally I have a huge hate on for the hipster-scene-ubiquitous soft socialist, "feminist", soft-spoken, youth-hostel-in-indonesia-visiting, venezuela-loving guy. The one who chats up the ladies, and slowly guilts them into kissing him because he is one of the "nice" ones. That guy is a liberal idiot I find even harder to tolerate than the clappy Christians.
